Dropbox (DBX) Stock Rises on Tigris Data Deal, AI Cloud

By Himma Editorial 2 min read

Dropbox stock rose 2.7% on November 5, 2026 after the Dropbox Tigris acquisition plan, a $350 million cash deal, and the DBX Agent Cloud launch.

Dropbox (NASDAQ: DBX) shares were up 2.74% in regular trading on November 5, 2026, as of mid-session, after the company announced the Dropbox Tigris acquisition and a new AI storage product. Dropbox agreed to pay approximately $350 million in cash for Tigris Data Inc., a globally distributed object storage platform built for AI workloads.

What happened: the Dropbox Tigris acquisition

Dropbox signed a definitive agreement on November 3, 2026 to buy all of Tigris's outstanding equity, with the price subject to customary purchase price adjustments. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, once customary conditions are met or waived. For scale, Dropbox's stock market value is roughly $7.6 billion.

Alongside the deal, Dropbox launched DBX Agent Cloud, a storage and data layer for companies building AI applications and agents. It starts with standalone object storage (a way of storing large amounts of files such as datasets, images and video) that works with tools built for Amazon S3, with filesystem and content-processing features planned next. Dropbox also said new AI features in its core product have already reached more than 70,000 teams.

Why the stock rose 2.7%

The gain was about one and a half times a typical day's swing for Dropbox, a noticeable but not extreme move. The most likely driver is that the announcements push Dropbox beyond its traditional file storage and sharing business into selling infrastructure to companies building AI products. The cash price of about $350 million is modest next to the company's size, which limits the financial strain of the purchase.
