Agilon health stock (NYSE: AGL) rose 28.9% in early trading on November 5, 2026, the day after the company reported third quarter results and raised its full year 2026 guidance. It now expects adjusted EBITDA of $145 million to $155 million for 2026, up from $75 million to $95 million previously.
What agilon health reported
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $1,519M | $1,435M | +6% |
| Net income (loss) | $35M | $(110)M | Swung to profit |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $64M | $(91)M | Swung to positive |
| Medical services expense ratio | 88.5% | 104.0% | 15.5 points lower |
| Total members on platform | 566,000 | 618,000 | -8% |
Adjusted EBITDA is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, with items such as stock-based pay and severance stripped out. The medical services expense ratio is the share of medical revenue spent on members' care, so a lower figure means more is left over. The company noted the Q3 ratio includes favorable claims development from the first half of 2026.
Guidance (the company's own forecast) also rose for revenue, now $5.87 billion to $5.89 billion versus $5.775 billion to $5.86 billion, and the full-year expense ratio is now expected at 90.3% to 90.5%, from 91.4% to 91.9%. Fewer members reflects what the company called disciplined contracting focused on profitability and earlier market exits.
Why the stock rose 28.9%
The gain is about six to seven times the stock's typical daily swing. The clearest drivers are the move from a large loss to a profit, with diluted earnings per share of $1.97 against a $6.65 loss a year earlier, and the near doubling of the profit outlook. The company said revenue benefited from higher-than-expected burden of illness performance (sicker patients bring higher payments), payor contracting and improved pricing. CEO Tim O'Rourke said the results "exceeded our expectations."
