EWTX Stock Rises 4.3% on Q3 Results and EDG-7500 Progress

By Himma Editorial 2 min read

Edgewise Therapeutics shares rose 4.3% after Q3 results showed a $1.17 billion profit from the sevasemten sale and a Phase 3 EDG-7500 trial on track.

Edgewise Therapeutics (EWTX) stock was up 4.3% in regular trading on November 5, 2026, the day after the company reported third quarter results. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities reached $1,743.9 million on September 30, 2026, up from $530.1 million at the end of 2025.

What Edgewise Therapeutics reported

Metric This period A year earlier Change
R&D expenses $31.6M $37.5M Down 16%
G&A expenses $14.6M $9.4M Up 55%
Interest income $16.5M $6.2M Up 166%
Net income (loss) $1,166.2M ($40.7M) Swung to profit
Diluted EPS $9.65 ($0.39) Swung to profit

Diluted EPS is profit per share, counting shares that options and similar awards could add. The profit is a one-off. It comes from a $1.348 billion gain on selling the sevasemten program and muscular dystrophy business to Servier in July 2026, which brought in $1.396 billion of upfront cash. Income tax expense on the deal was $155.3 million. The company still has no revenue from product sales.

R&D (research and development) spending fell mainly because sevasemten costs stopped after the sale. Spending on EDG-7500 and early-stage research went up. G&A (general and administrative) costs rose on hiring, stock-based pay and professional fees.

Why the stock rose 4.3%

The rise was close to twice the size of a typical day's swing for the stock. The company said the Phase 3 trial of EDG-7500 is on track to start by year-end 2026. Phase 3 is the large, late-stage test usually needed for approval. The trial covers both obstructive and nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a thickening of the heart muscle. The company also dosed the first patient in its Phase 2 EQUINOX-HFpEF trial of a second drug, EDG-15400.

What to watch next

  • Whether the EDG-7500 Phase 3 trial actually starts by the end of 2026

  • Enrollment updates from the EQUINOX-HFpEF trial

  • Next quarterly report for updated cash and spending levels

FAQ

What is EDG-7500?

It is an experimental oral pill designed to act on the heart muscle's regulatory light chain, slowing early contraction and improving the heart's ability to relax. Positive 12-week Phase 2 results from the CIRRUS-HCM trial were presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in August 2026.

What is EDG-15400 being tested for?

It is being tested in adults with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), meaning the heart pumps normally (ejection fraction of at least 50%) but relaxes poorly. The trial is listed on ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT07795814.
